Opportunity Services Announces New Location in Byron, MN with a Ribbon Cutting and Open House Event
This will be the 3rd Opportunity Services location in Olmsted County in 6 Years

ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA– Opportunity Services, a nonprofit organization that helps adults with disabilities find meaningful employment and build community relationships, is opening the doors to a brand new location in Byron, Minnesota on January 13, 2016! The community and media are invited to attend the Ribbon Cutting at 11:30am and the Open House Event from 3-6pm on Wednesday, January 13th. This building will be the third Opportunity Services location in Olmsted County, joining the day program location at 640 Orchid Road SE and the supported employment location at 326 S. Broadway, Suite D, both in Rochester. The brand-new 5,000 square foot building will increase capacity for all Opportunity Services programs, especially the Enhanced Behavioral Program.

In 2009 Olmsted County and Opportunity Services partnered to create several work and community integration programs. In just six years, Opportunity Services has grown rapidly in Olmsted County, from the 9 clients originally served to the near 200 clients served everyday. With over 12 community job sites and countless business partners, the opportunities for clients will continue to expand. The Byron location will primarily serve the Opportunity Services Enhanced Behavioral Program, assisting clients who need additional support overcoming behavioral barriers. Moving this program from the Opportunity Services building in Rochester will open up space for the Community Work Program and Community Living Program to grow in the future.

“The addition of this new space allows Opportunity Services to expand client experience and continue to grow in Olmsted County. The building is not only beautiful and will be an excellent space for clients, but connects our organization with the vibrant Byron community” said Ann Korecky, Opportunity Services Regional Manager. “We have grown so quickly in recent years, this building will give us the opportunity to assist new clients in the Byron community and beyond.” The 27 clients moving to the Byron building will have access to community-based employment as well as plenty of activities and outings in both the Byron and Rochester communities. Echoing the excitement of Opportunity Services is Olmsted County. Robin Sommer, Program Manager in the Disability Services Unit in Olmsted County states “We are so excited about the new location in Byron.  It will allow Opportunity Services to increase their ability to meet the needs of the people they support in more individualized and creative ways.  Adding a new program site will be beneficial to and improve quality of programming not only for the people in the Enhanced Program, but to all Opportunity Services participants.”

Community members and the media are welcome to tour the new building on Wednesday, January 13th. We will have a Ribbon Cutting Event at 11:30 and an Open House from 3-6pm at 1052 4th Street NE in Byron, Minnesota. Light refreshments will be served to clients, families and Opportunity Services staff celebrating this new location!
