Client Highlight: Marshall Shines at New Job Site


When Marshall began working with Opportunity Services a little over a year ago, he was working 10 hours a week over the course of 4 days. Now, he is working 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Marshall is a work crew member of the newest Opportunity Services Job Site, a major retail department store in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Prior to working at the new job site, Marshall worked at a hotel and another major retail department store. At the store, Marshall and the crew work have expanded on some of their traditional job roles to include a variety of tasks including flat folding, waxing displays, sizing hangers, and stocking inventory on the floor. Marshall is joined on his work crew by 4 other employees. The new work hours were hard to adjust to at first for the work crew, but they are now thriving in this new structure. Marshall is one of the employees who had a smooth transition and been a leader on his crew.

Opportunity Services has worked with Marshall to ensure he maximizes his potential and is on track to reach independent, competitive employment. Amanda Boots, Regional Manager of DT&H, believes that Marshall is on the correct path to achieve that goal. “He is so comfortable and capable at work. He knows how to manage his expectations and has really adjusted to doubling his weekly work hours. He has grown so much,” shared Amanda.  She will be working with Marshall to train him to use a cash register and working on obtaining additional job skills.

When not at work, Marshall enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and printing pictures. He enjoys a wide assortment of music genres and his favorite recent movie he saw was Godzilla.
