Mission, Vision, Values Award Winner: Melissa Hodge

Congratulations to our Mission, Vision, Values Quarter Two Award Winner from the metro area: Melissa Hodge! Melissa is a learning coach in Coon Rapids, Minnesota and has recently assisted the beginning of two new work teams: the University of Minnesota and the Blaine Parks. Here is her MVV nomination from a co-worker: “Melissa’s ability to engage our clients and her positive, can-do attitude impresses me more and more ever time I see her in action. This is the second time I have been with her on day one at a brand new job and she is great at connecting with the managers and supervisor they’ll be working with. From the minute she meets anyone, she wins them over immediately, listens and has fun. Her enthusiasm and the way she represents OS on the job is the best I’ve seen of any of our job coaches.”

How long have you been working at Opportunity Services?
I’ve been with OS for almost a year.

Why do you work for Opportunity Services?
So I can help make a difference to the people we serve.

What words best describe you?
Funny, outgoing, happy, talkative

Why do you work in the disability field? Did you always know you wanted to work with disabled individuals?
I first started working in this field because many of my family members work in the health care field and I thought it would be a great place to start. I never thought I’d work in this field- it just kind of came to me. I have been in the field for 9 years now.

What’s your favorite thing about Opportunity Services?
My favorite thing is job coaching the clients and working with so many different personalities.

Do you have any advice for other employees at Opportunity Services?
Do the best you can do at your job and have fun with it!

What do you like to do for fun in your free time?
What I like to do in my free time is spend time with my four kids: I have two step-kids and a one year-old and a fifteen year-old. And a cat named Butter and a dog named Pookie.
