Congratulations to our Mission, Vision, Values Quarter One Award Winner from Red Wing, Byron, Kasson or Rochester: Jessica Lipke! We will be highlighting the MVV winners in monthly newsletters and Shared Stories throughout the year so we can get to know these amazing representatives of our organization!

How long have you been working at Opportunity Services? I have been working at Opportunity Services for a little over two years in Direct Care in Kasson, MN.

Why do you work for Opportunity Services? I love that I am able to have fun everyday at work while helping clients learn new things, and help them achieve their work goals.

What five words best describe you? Passionate, Funny, Honest, Easygoing, Genuine

Why do you work in the disability field? Did you always know you wanted to work with individuals with disabilities? I work in the disability field because I love it. When I graduated high school, I wanted to be a nurse. I started in the nursing program, and while I was in school I got a part time job working in a group home, and fell in love with this field. I’ve been working in the disability field every since.

Do you have any personal connection to disabilities? Both of my parents are Deaf, and growing up I would help interpret for them. My mom is also legally blind. I help her with errands, and driving her wherever she needs to go. That’s when I realized helping people is a passion of mine.

Why are you deserving of this MVV award? I try to do the best I can everyday, and put my clients first. I am very appreciative and honored receiving this award.

Do you have any advice for other employees at Opportunity Services? Some days are hard, and if you can find the humor in a situation- it’ll make the day so much better.

What do you like to do for fun in your free time? I enjoy the outdoors with my family and going to farmers market’s in the summertime.
